The D-bird Professional Condenser Sound Podcast microphone is a good value microphone with some nice features, excellent audio quality but lacks noise cancellation. The packaging was decent and easily opened without tools. Often we get items like this that are apparently packaged to prevent retail theft and require scissors, wire cutters or a plasma cutter to open.
I was thankful that this was not the case. First impression is that its an attractive and professional style microphone with an included microphone tripod. The cord is a thick, well shielded, insulated, and is 6 Feet in length. The tripod is adequate for the microphone, it is light in weight and holds the microphone at an adjustable angle a good height on my desk surface . I tested the microphone using Windows 10 at a distance of two feet from my mouth. It picked my voice up clearly and with good volume though it also picked up background noise from my ceiling fan. Checking the levels I saw that my microphone boost and microphone levels were maxed out so I turned down the boost to about 75% and left the microphone level as it was. The noise was just about eliminated and the level in my earphones did not seem much diminished. I could still hear my voice clearly after adjustments were made. I use Teamspeak 3 voice communication software in gaming and thought that this was an great tool for setting the levels in Voice activation detection and getting the best possible test of the microphones actual performance. I enabled the test and spoke normally as I would in a game, not leaning forward but watching the screen and sitting back as if I was playing a game. Settings were just above center of the scale (+10) My existing headset microphone is 10 db less on the level meter than this microphone, so this microphone was more sensitive with the same input settings and it is 2 feet away not 2 inches. The remove background noise and automatic voice gain control boxes were checked in the Teamspeak 3 settings as well.. My friend's reported to me that the microphone was clear and without background noise, trust me these guys get picky and will hound someone with bad audio quality, they cannot be bothered by bad audio distracting them from the game. I gave the microphone a good test by communicating while playing Guild wars 2 with my guild members and they all asked how my microphone was suddenly so remarkably improved.
My plans for this microphone is to provide clear audio while I stream
my glassblowing on Twitch. There is a good deal of noise with the fan
and the torch which resembles a small rocket engine. I'm not sure yet
how this will sound in the glass shop, but we have a good start by
eliminating my noisy ceiling fan while still providing clear strong
leveled audio. If you have any trouble with background noise with this
microphone or low audio levels I would suspect system settings or
outdated driver's rather than this fine device.
